What is it?

Salicylic acid is an oil-soluble beta hydroxy acid, commonly known as a BHA. It can travel through surface oil and exfoliate inside the pores, where dead skin cells and sebum can accumulate.

This makes it especially effective for oily, congested and blemish-prone skin with blackheads or visible pores.

Why do we like it?

Unlike water-soluble exfoliating acids that primarily work on the skin’s surface, salicylic acid can reach inside oil-filled pores.

It offers a focused solution for congestion, blackheads and excess sebum while helping the skin appear smoother and clearer over time.

How does it help?

Salicylic acid loosens the bonds between dead skin cells and helps clear the mixture of oil and debris that can block pores. Its exfoliating action improves the appearance of blackheads, blemishes and uneven texture.

By keeping pores clearer, it can also make enlarged pores appear less noticeable.

How do I use it?

Apply after cleansing and before hydrating serums or moisturiser, following the directions of the individual product. Beginners should start two or three times per week and gradually increase the frequency if needed and well tolerated.

Avoid applying it to irritated or compromised skin. Use broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning when exfoliating acids are part of your routine.
